Pharmacist in Los Angeles, CA

A full-time day pharmacist position is available in the Los Angeles area for a contract lasting 2 to 3 months or longer. This role involves working at a hospital with 117 licensed beds and an average daily census of 44 patients. The position may require floating to nearby sister hospitals located within 10 to 15 miles.

Location: Los Angeles, CA and nearby hospitals
Schedule/Hours: Variable day and afternoon shifts
Duration: 2-3 months, with potential extension

Responsibilities:

• Verify medication orders accurately and efficiently
• Oversee and support pharmacy technicians in daily operations
• Collaborate with nurses and physicians to ensure optimal patient care
• Provide pharmacokinetic consulting and dosing recommendations
• Utilize Allscripts/Paragon order entry system for medication management
• Manage medication dispensing through Pyxis automated cabinets

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid pharmacist license to practice in California
• Experience with Allscripts/Paragon and Pyxis medication systems preferred
• Strong knowledge of pharmacokinetics and clinical pharmacy practices
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with healthcare staff
• Ability to adapt to variable schedules and float between hospital sites as needed
