Pharmacist - Macon, Georgia

A pharmacy opportunity is available for a Pharmacist located in Macon, GA, for a 9-week contract assignment. Macon is conveniently situated about an hour south of Atlanta, positioned between Atlanta and Columbus, offering an accessible location for candidates.

Location: Macon, GA
Contract Duration: 9 weeks
Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Possible weekend rotation

Responsibilities:

• Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently
• Monitor patient medication compliance and identify patterns of over-usage
• Ensure all medications dispensed comply with legal requirements and are appropriate for patient use
• Maintain confidential and precise patient records and pharmacy documentation
• Advise patients regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and address their questions thoroughly
• Provide consultation on prescription and OTC medications, including dosage, storage, side effects, and drug interactions
• Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management
• Educate patients on proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters
• Compound medications for internal or external use and prepare sterile solutions following established procedures
• Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure smooth pharmacy operations
• Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory effectively
• Identify drug-related issues and communicate with healthcare practitioners including physicians and nurses to optimize patient care

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• Georgia pharmacist license must be in hand
• Retail pharmacist experience preferred but candidates open to training will be considered
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to supervise and collaborate within an interdisciplinary healthcare team
