A 9-week contract opportunity is available for a licensed pharmacist in the Macon, GA area. This role involves supporting pharmacy operations with a focus on patient safety, medication management, and regulatory compliance. Located approximately one hour south of Atlanta, Macon offers a convenient location between Atlanta and Columbus.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Possible weekend rotation required
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications
- Monitor patient medication compliance and detect over-usage patterns
- Ensure medication supply complies with legal requirements
- Verify suitability of prescribed medicines for patients
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient and pharmacy records
- Provide thorough medication counseling, addressing questions related to dosing, side effects, and interactions
- Offer patient services including smoking cessation, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management
- Educate patients on medical device use such as glucose meters and blood pressure monitors
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following protocols
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks
- Maintain appropriate inventory of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to resolve drug-related issues
Desired Qualifications:
- Georgia pharmacist license in-hand
- Retail pharmacy experience is welcome; training will be provided as needed
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
