Medication Safety/Compliance Pharmacist opportunity available in Madera, CA with a renowned pediatric hospital setting just outside Fresno. This direct hire position offers a chance to lead and advance medication safety and regulatory compliance within a dynamic pharmacy department.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the Director of Pharmacy, collaborating closely with pharmacy leadership, including managers and supervisors across operations, clinical, home care, and technician teams.
- Ensure medication management practices comply fully with regulatory laws and standards, promoting patient safety.
- Continuously evaluate and update pharmacy practices based on evidence, literature, and organizational data, driving change and best practice adoption.
- Update policies and procedures to support safe medication use and staff compliance.
- Provide education and training focused on patient safety and regulatory requirements for pharmacy staff and interdisciplinary teams.
- Advocate for patients as part of medication safety efforts.
- Utilize Medication Error Reporting Program (MERP) experience and operate within the EPIC electronic medical records system.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
- Completion of an accredited residency program preferred.
- Active California Registered Pharmacist license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification or ASHP/ISMP Medication Safety Certificate considered a strong plus.
- Minimum five years of hospital pharmacy or related experience required.
- Two or more years in management or leadership preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws/regulations including The Joint Commission standards.
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, management, and medical teams to develop and implement pharmaceutical care processes.
Schedule:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Five 8-hour day shifts.
