DIRECT HIRE OPPORTUNITY for a Medication Safety/Compliance Pharmacist

Shift: Days | Schedule: Monday – Friday, 5x8-hour shifts | Weekly Hours: 40
This direct hire role offers a unique opportunity to join a leading pediatric hospital's pharmacy leadership team, reporting directly to the Director of Pharmacy. The Medication Safety/Compliance Pharmacist will ensure the highest standards of medication management and safety across the pharmacy department, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to uphold compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee compliance with medication safety regulations and ensure all pharmacy practices adhere to current laws and standards.
- Evaluate and continuously improve pharmacy practices, championing evidence-based and data-driven advancements.
- Lead updates to policies and procedures supporting safe medication use and regulatory compliance.
- Provide education and training on patient safety and regulatory topics for pharmacy staff and broader hospital disciplines.
- Serve as a patient advocate by monitoring and enhancing medication safety initiatives.
- Collaborate effectively with hospital medical staff and pharmacy leadership.
- Utilize Medication Error Reporting Program (MERP) experience and expertise.
- Work within the EMR system EPIC for documentation and reporting.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree (required).
- Pharmacy residency preferred.
- Registered Pharmacist licensed through California State Board of Pharmacy (required).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required within 30 days of hire).
- Specialty certifications in medication safety (ASHP/ISMP) or Board of Pharmacy Specialties highly preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of hospital or related pharmacy experience.
- At least 2 years of management experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws/regulations, regulatory agencies, oral and written communication, organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to develop collaborative pharmaceutical care processes.
