An opening is available for an experienced Pharmacist to support an afternoon/evening shift at a rehabilitation hospital in Wausau, WI. This hospital specializes in rehabilitative care with a 30-bed capacity and a consistently high patient census. The pharmacy's expanding hours require dedicated coverage from approximately 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM, with some flexibility in scheduling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely pharmacist services during the afternoon and evening shifts
  • Collaborate with pharmacy staff and management to ensure quality medication dispensing and patient safety
  • Share weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage responsibilities alongside the pharmacy manager
  • Utilize Wellsky pharmacy information system and Pyxis automation for daily operations
  • Perform limited IV compounding as needed (no chemotherapy involved)
  • Communicate effectively with hospital staff to support patient care within a rehab setting

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid Pharmacist licensure and credentials
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy settings, ideally with rehabilitation patients
  • Proficient in pharmacy information systems, particularly Wellsky
  • Skilled in Pyxis automation system operations
  • Demonstrated ability to perform IV compounding procedures safely
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate with remote order entry services and support on-call requirements

Location:

  • Wausau, Wisconsin

Schedule:

  • Approximately 40 hours per week
  • Shift from around 12:30 PM to 9:00 PM (negotiable)
  • Weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage shared with pharmacy management

This opportunity is offered on a contract basis with a duration of at least 13 weeks. The hospital pharmacy team currently includes two pharmacists and one technician and is supported by remote order entry services during non-standard hours.
