A direct hire opportunity is available for a Pharmacist to support exceptional pharmacy services within a healthcare facility in Milan, NM. This role involves comprehensive medication management, clinical oversight, and operational leadership in the pharmacy department. The Pharmacist plays a critical role in patient care by ensuring the safety, accuracy, and effectiveness of drug therapies while collaborating closely with healthcare teams.

Responsibilities include preparing and dispensing medications, monitoring patient therapies, providing drug information to medical staff, managing drug inventory, and supervising technical personnel. The Pharmacist will also participate in formulary management, emergency response teams, and quality improvement initiatives. In the absence of the Pharmacy Director, this position may assume leadership duties, maintaining the smooth operation of the pharmacy department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare, fill, label, and dispense medications including parenteral and IV solutions.
  • Monitor patient drug therapies for safety and effectiveness, considering age-specific medication requirements.
  • Provide drug information and education to physicians, nurses, and patients.
  • Oversee inventory management and maintain lawful pharmacy records.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and participate in operational improvements.
  • Engage in emergency response activities such as Rapid Response Teams and Code Blue events.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and participate in continuing education.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy; BS in Pharmacy required, PharmD preferred.
  • Active New Mexico pharmacist license.
  • Preferably 1-2 years of hospital pharmacy experience; recent graduates with strong clinical rotations considered.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of pharmacology and therapeutics.
  • Proficient in pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technology.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform repetitive hand movements, lift up to 40 pounds, and stand or walk for up to 8 hours.
  • Physically capable of operating pharmacy equipment safely and efficiently.
