A research hospital is seeking a pharmacist with specialized experience in compounding IV medications and working in a cleanroom setting for a full-time contract position. This role offers a six-week assignment focused on supporting clinical research and standard of care treatments within a multidisciplinary environment adhering to rigorous regulatory standards.

Location:

  • New York, NY (Research Hospital)

Schedule:

  • Full Time: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Part Time: 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare sterile and non-sterile medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders, ensuring safety and compatibility.
  • Compound, dispense, package, and label pharmaceutical products accurately for both research protocols and patient care.
  • Monitor drug therapies, identify therapeutic incompatibilities, and recommend interventions as needed.
  • Oversee pharmacy operations including directing technicians’ workflow, verifying medication preparation, labeling, and order processing.
  • Provide pharmacological support and counseling to healthcare professionals and researchers.
  • Participate in clinical research meetings to enhance staff pharmacology knowledge.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal drug laws including NYSBP, DEA, FDA, NIH, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques within the sterile product preparation area and manage investigational drug inventories.
  • Keep pharmacy environment safe and clean in accordance with procedural guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • NY Pharmacist license in good standing required.
  • Minimum of 2 years hospital pharmacy experience with significant sterile compounding and investigational drug exposure.
  • Certification in sterile/non-sterile product preparation (BCSCP) preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Proficient with hospital electronic health records (Cerner, EPIC) and controlled substance inventory systems.
  • Experience with automated drug dispensing machines and controlled drug dispensing.
  • Ability to independently interpret clinical trial protocols and accurately dispense investigational medication.
  • Strong record-keeping skills and ability to write drug dispensing procedures.
  • Prior experience in research pharmacy environments is advantageous.
