Position Overview
As an inpatient pharmacist, you will review and dispense medication orders, prioritizing patient safety and clinical efficacy. Your work will involve close collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate medication safety, conduct clinical reviews, and assist in discharge planning. Leadership in guiding pharmacy technicians and students, along with managing inventory control, forms a vital part of this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Review medication orders for accuracy regarding drug, dose, frequency, and route
- Assess patient allergies, medical history, drug interactions, and lab results before dispensing
- Dispense medications in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements
- Provide drug information and clinical support to the healthcare team
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and students to maintain safe medication preparation
- Support inventory management and medication supply control
- Collaborate with the healthcare team on patient continuum of care and discharge planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy (required)
- PharmD degree (preferred)
- Minimum 1 year hospital pharmacy experience or APPE experience in a clinical/hospital setting (preferred)
- Active Pennsylvania Pharmacist License (required)
- BLS certification (preferred)
