A healthcare facility in the Los Angeles area is seeking a skilled and resourceful pharmacist to support their pharmacy operations on a contract basis. This opportunity is ideal for pharmacists who thrive in fast-paced environments and have experience managing diverse pharmacy responsibilities.

Location: Norwalk, CA
Position Type: Contract (initial 8 weeks, with month-to-month extension)
Schedule: Variable day/afternoon shifts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify medication orders and ensure accuracy and safety
  • Provide oversight and guidance to pharmacy technicians
  • Collaborate closely with nurses and physicians to optimize patient care
  • Apply pharmacokinetic principles to medication management
  • Use Allscripts/Paragon order entry systems for documentation
  • Utilize Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets for efficient medication distribution

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

  • Valid Pharmacist license with eligibility to practice in California
  • Prior experience working in hospital or institutional pharmacy settings
  • Proficiency with Allscripts and Paragon order entry systems
  • Familiarity with Pyxis automated dispensing technology
  • Strong communication skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload in a short-staffed environment

The site manages licensed beds totaling 117, with an average daily census of 44 patients. It supports pharmacy operations through advanced technology systems designed to enhance accuracy and efficiency in medication management.
