A full-time Pharmacist position is available in the Los Angeles area, offering an engaging opportunity to work in a hospital setting with variable day and afternoon shifts. This contract role, expected to last 2 to 3 months or longer, involves supporting pharmacy operations at a facility with 117 licensed beds and an average daily census of 44 patients. The role may require floating to nearby sister hospitals within a 10 to 15 mile radius, providing variety and exposure to different team environments.
Responsibilities include:
- Verifying medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness
- Overseeing pharmacy technicians and supporting their workflow
- Consulting with nurses and physicians regarding medication management
- Managing pharmacokinetics and other specialized pharmacy services
- Operating automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis) and using Allscripts/Paragon order entry systems
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current pharmacist licensure and credentials to practice in the state
- Experience with hospital pharmacy operations, including order verification and technician supervision
- Familiarity with Pyxis automated dispensing systems and Allscripts/Paragon software
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Ability to adapt to variable shifts and float among nearby facilities as needed
Location: Norwalk, CA, with occasional travel to sister hospitals within a short commuting distance
