Provide pharmaceutical expertise in a dynamic hospital setting serving a 117-bed facility with an average daily census of 44 patients. This contract role, lasting 8 to 13 weeks or more, requires flexibility in coverage hours including variable day and afternoon shifts. Candidates should be prepared to float to nearby sister hospitals within a 10 to 15-mile radius to support consistent pharmacy operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify medication orders to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to pharmacy technicians.
  • Collaborate with nurses and physicians to optimize patient care.
  • Apply pharmacokinetic principles in medication management.
  • Utilize Allscripts/Paragon systems for order entry and documentation.
  • Manage Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets and related workflows.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current and unrestricted pharmacist license.
  • Experience with hospital pharmacy operations, ideally in settings of similar size.
  • Proficiency with Paragon/Allscripts order entry systems.
  • Familiarity with Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively consult healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work variable shifts and adapt to floating between sites.

Location:

  • Based primarily in Norwalk, CA, with occasional travel to nearby hospital locations within 15 miles.
