A pharmacy opportunity is available for a licensed pharmacist seeking a four-week assignment in Oceanside, CA. This contract role offers the chance to work 2nd shift hours from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm, with rotating weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and dispense prescription medications accurately while adhering to regulatory standards.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify overuse patterns.
- Ensure medication supplies comply with legal requirements.
- Review prescribed medicines for patient suitability.
- Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files meticulously.
- Provide patient counseling on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer medication-related inquiries.
- Offer consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications regarding storage, dosages, side effects, and interactions.
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation guidance, blood pressure and cholesterol monitoring.
- Educate patients on proper use and maintenance of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications as needed, including preparation of sterile solutions following established procedures.
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks, to ensure efficient operations.
- Maintain pharmaceutical and medical supply inventories at appropriate levels.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related patient issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active California pharmacist license required.
- Retail pharmacists are welcome to apply; training will be provided.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient and team interactions.
- Ability to accurately manage records and comply with healthcare regulations.
