Pharmacist | Oneonta, New York

This travel contract position in Oneonta, New York, offers an opportunity for a pharmacist with inpatient hospital experience and sterile compounding expertise to contribute to comprehensive medication management in an inpatient setting. The role involves medication order verification, overseeing pharmacy technicians, and pharmacokinetic dosing for vancomycin and aminoglycosides within a supportive, automated pharmacy environment.

Responsibilities:

• Verify and dispense medication orders accurately and timely
• Supervise and provide oversight for pharmacy technicians
• Perform pharmacokinetic dosing including vancomycin and aminoglycosides
• Support general inpatient pharmacy workflow and clinical operations
• Manage sterile compounding activities, ensuring adherence to USP 797 and 800 standards, proper garbing and hygiene, and competency testing
• Collaborate within an automated environment using Epic EMR and BD Pyxis dispensing systems

Schedule and Hours:

• Full-time, 40 hours per week
• Monday through Friday, department hours 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• Shift options: 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, or 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
• Minimal weekend and holiday work anticipated; occasional every third weekend rotation possible depending on staffing needs
• No formal on-call rotation initially; well-qualified candidates may be added to a 2-3 night per week on-call schedule

Required Qualifications:

• Active New York State Pharmacist License (mandatory)
• Recent inpatient hospital pharmacy experience (retail or outpatient experience is insufficient)
• Demonstrated sterile compounding experience, including compliance with USP 797 and 800 standards
• Bachelor’s in Pharmacy or PharmD degree (PharmD not required)
• Commitment to a minimum two-week onsite orientation prior to independent practice

Preferred Experience:

• Familiarity with Epic EMR and BD Pyxis dispensing systems
• Ability and willingness to provide occasional float coverage at a nearby hospital location
• Comfortable with potential on-call duties as needed
