An immediate opportunity is available for a Pharmacist to serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) at a rehab hospital in Overland Park, KS. This role combines hands-on pharmacy practice with managerial responsibilities, supporting a 48-bed facility with an average daily census of 45 patients. The position offers a dynamic work environment where clinical expertise and leadership are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge, overseeing pharmacy operations and compliance.
- Provide direct pharmacist staffing, working 40 hours per week during standard pharmacy hours (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday).
- Manage and support one pharmacy technician per shift, coordinating workflow and ensuring accuracy.
- Collaborate with a team including 6 PRN pharmacists who rotate on-call duties, providing weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage as needed.
- Utilize the Wellsky pharmacy information system and manage automation through Pyxis.
- Prepare sterile intravenous (IV) compounding; note that chemotherapy compounding is not required.
- Ensure the safe and effective delivery of pharmaceutical care in a rehabilitation hospital setting.
Desired Qualifications:
- Licensed Pharmacist with valid licensure to practice.
- Experience as a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) is required.
- Proven expertise in IV compounding within a hospital pharmacy.
- Familiarity with hospital pharmacy systems, particularly Wellsky and Pyxis.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to supervise pharmacy technicians.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with healthcare teams and staff.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
- On-call and weekend coverage may occasionally be required.
