Pharmacist in Pataskala, OH

A hospital pharmacy requires a dedicated Night Shift Pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care during overnight hours. This contract position offers a seven-days-on, seven-days-off schedule, working Thursday night through Thursday morning, from 8:00 PM to 7:30 AM. During much of the shift (11:30 PM to 6:00 AM), you will serve as the sole pharmacist on duty, supported by certified pharmacy technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review, interpret, and accurately process medication orders and prescriptions.
• Monitor and manage patient medication therapies ensuring safety, appropriateness, and effectiveness.
• Maintain departmental policies, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with pharmacy regulations.
• Provide drug information and counseling to patients, families, and healthcare providers.
• Assist with emergency drug therapy management and ensure adequate medication supply during emergencies.
• Coordinate pharmacy technician activities to optimize patient care and departmental function.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Valid Ohio Pharmacy License in good standing.
• Bachelor of Science or PharmD degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Minimum of one year hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with healthcare teams and patients.
• Ability to work independently during overnight hours as the sole pharmacist.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements:

• Ability to exert medium work effort (lifting 20-50 pounds occasionally).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication capabilities.
• Capacity to manage time effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
