Pharmacist in Portsmouth, VA

A healthcare facility in Portsmouth, VA, is seeking an experienced Inpatient Pharmacist for a 13-week contract starting June 29. This role requires a confident professional to support patient care through precise medication management and collaboration with clinical staff.

Schedule/Hours:

• Rotating shifts including:
  • Day shifts: 0630–1500, 0730–1600, 0900–1730, 1000–1830
  • Evening shifts: 1300–2130, 1430–2300
  • Overnight shifts: 1930–0730, 2030–0730

Responsibilities:

• Verify and process medication orders accurately
• Manage IV medications, pain-controlled analgesia, and antibiotic therapies
• Monitor for drug interactions and ensure patient safety
• Participate in order entry within the EPIC electronic medical record system
• Apply clinical knowledge in pharmacokinetics and renal dosing, with additional opportunities to work with chemotherapy and anticoagulant management

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Valid Virginia pharmacist license at the time of application (required)
• Minimum of 1 year of inpatient pharmacy experience
• EPIC charting experience (mandatory)
• Proficiency in IV medication management, pain control, antibiotics, and drug interaction identification
• Experience with chemotherapy, anticoagulants, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing preferred
• Prior travel pharmacy experience is a plus
