Travel Pharmacist - Rifle, CO

A pharmacist opportunity is available for a 20-week travel assignment commencing March 17. This role involves working rotating shifts, 40 hours per week, with start times at either 6:30 AM or 8:00 AM Monday through Friday, plus rotating weekend shifts from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The position is based in Rifle, CO, and requires expertise in Epic systems; Meditech experience is advantageous as the facility transitions from Meditech to Epic.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and dispense medication orders as prescribed by physicians.
• Maintain medication inventory in patient care areas and ensure safe and cost-effective therapies.
• Interpret medication orders and manage computerized patient medication profiles.
• Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, including IV admixtures and chemotherapy.
• Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, maintaining accurate records, especially for controlled substances.
• Monitor drug therapies for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and dosage appropriateness.
• Perform pharmacokinetic dosing according to hospital protocols.
• Review culture and sensitivity data to advise on antibiotic use.
• Detect and report adverse drug reactions promptly.
• Promote formulary adherence and suggest cost-effective therapeutic alternatives.
• Provide clinical consultation and drug information to medical staff, patients, and families.
• Document all clinical activities and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
• Participate in orientation and training programs for healthcare staff.
• Serve as a member of the Code Response Team.

Qualifications:

• Active and good-standing Colorado Pharmacy License.
• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited institution.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Flu vaccination required annually between October 1 and April 1, with no exemptions.
• Mandatory Epic system experience; Meditech training is a plus.
