We are seeking an experienced Lead Pharmacist for an evening-shift opportunity in San Antonio, Texas. This position is ideal for a pharmacist who enjoys leading pharmacy operations, mentoring staff, and ensuring exceptional service in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.

The Lead Pharmacist will play a key role in overseeing daily workflow, supporting pharmacy personnel, maintaining regulatory compliance, and serving as a clinical and operational resource for staff and facility partners.

Position Details

Long-term care pharmacy setting
Monday through Friday
Shift: 1:30 PM – 10:30 PM

Responsibilities

Oversee daily pharmacy workflow to ensure timely and accurate medication dispensing
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to pharmacy technicians and staff
Coordinate workflow, delegate tasks, and assist with operational problem-solving
Review and verify prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and regulatory compliance
Ensure compliance with all state, federal, DEA, and company regulations
Oversee controlled substance management, documentation, and audit readiness
Verify Schedule II prescriptions and ensure accurate reporting and recordkeeping
Serve as a resource for pharmacy staff, nursing personnel, and facility partners regarding medication-related questions
Communicate with long-term care facilities regarding order status, medication availability, substitutions, and supply concerns
Oversee inventory management, including controlled substances, emergency kits, and daily medication supplies
Support onboarding, training, and ongoing staff development initiatives
Collaborate closely with pharmacy leadership to ensure operational excellence and team alignment
Assist with inventory counts, billing issue resolution, and operational follow-up activities
Monitor service levels related to turnaround times, order accuracy, and delivery coordination
Maintain pharmacy organization, cleanliness, and equipment functionality
Provide leadership coverage and operational oversight in the absence of pharmacy management

Required Qualifications

Active Texas Pharmacist License
Minimum of 2 years of pharmacist experience
Previous leadership, supervisory, lead pharmacist, or pharmacy management experience
Long-term care pharmacy experience
Strong prescription verification and clinical review experience
Experience handling controlled substances and DEA compliance requirements
Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations
Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflow in a high-volume environment
Experience training, mentoring, and supporting pharmacy staff

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a closed-door or long-term care pharmacy
Inventory management and controlled substance auditing experience
Experience supporting multi-facility pharmacy operations
