Pharmacist - San Diego, CA

A short 4-week contract opportunity is available for a licensed Pharmacist in the San Diego, CA area. This position offers the chance to apply your pharmaceutical knowledge in a dynamic 2nd shift role, with hours from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM and rotating weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accept, prepare, and dispense prescription medications accurately.
• Monitor patient medication compliance and identify over-usage patterns.
• Ensure all medication supply and dispensing comply with legal regulations.
• Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy files.
• Counsel patients on medication use, potential side effects, and answer their questions.
• Provide consultations on prescription and OTC medications, covering storage, dosage, interactions, and side effects.
• Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure measurements, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on handling medical devices including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols.
• Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure efficient operations.
• Manage pharmaceutical inventory and liaise with healthcare professionals to address drug-related issues.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active California Pharmacist license required.
• Licensed retail pharmacists are encouraged to apply; training will be provided.
• Strong communication skills and patient-focused service approach.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
