A Pharmacist position is available for a 4-week contract in San Diego, CA. This role involves working the 2nd shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM with rotating weekends. The ideal candidate will have a California pharmacist license ready and be prepared to start immediately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and detect patterns of overuse.
- Ensure the supply and dispensing of medicines comply with legal requirements.
- Assess the suitability of prescribed medications for patients.
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy files.
- Provide patient counseling on medication usage, potential reactions, and answer inquiries.
- Consult on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation assistance, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications for internal or external use and prepare sterile solutions following protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
- Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
- Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare practitioners including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid California pharmacist license required.
- Retail pharmacists are welcome; on-the-job training provided as needed.
- Strong communication and supervisory skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and manage records accurately.
- Knowledge of compounding and sterile preparation processes is a plus.
