A short 4-week contract opportunity is available for a licensed Pharmacist in the San Diego, CA area. This position offers the chance to apply your pharmaceutical knowledge in a dynamic 2nd shift role, with hours from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM and rotating weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accept, prepare, and dispense prescription medications accurately.
- Monitor patient medication compliance and identify over-usage patterns.
- Ensure all medication supply and dispensing comply with legal regulations.
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy files.
- Counsel patients on medication use, potential side effects, and answer their questions.
- Provide consultations on prescription and OTC medications, covering storage, dosage, interactions, and side effects.
- Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure measurements, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on handling medical devices including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks to ensure efficient operations.
- Manage pharmaceutical inventory and liaise with healthcare professionals to address drug-related issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active California Pharmacist license required.
- Licensed retail pharmacists are encouraged to apply; training will be provided.
- Strong communication skills and patient-focused service approach.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
