A Pharmacist position is available for a 4-week contract in San Diego, CA. This role involves working the 2nd shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM with rotating weekends. The ideal candidate will have a California pharmacist license ready and be prepared to start immediately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and accurately dispense prescription medications.
  • Monitor patient medication compliance and detect patterns of overuse.
  • Ensure the supply and dispensing of medicines comply with legal requirements.
  • Assess the suitability of prescribed medications for patients.
  • Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy files.
  • Provide patient counseling on medication usage, potential reactions, and answer inquiries.
  • Consult on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
  • Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation assistance, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications for internal or external use and prepare sterile solutions following protocols.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
  • Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
  • Identify drug-related problems and communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team.
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare practitioners including physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid California pharmacist license required.
  • Retail pharmacists are welcome; on-the-job training provided as needed.
  • Strong communication and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and manage records accurately.
  • Knowledge of compounding and sterile preparation processes is a plus.

Shift: 2nd Shift (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM), rotating weekends
Contract Duration: 4 weeks, immediate start
