Pharmacist - San Diego, California

A pharmacy opportunity is available for a Pharmacist in San Diego, CA, on a 4-week contract basis. This role requires immediate availability to join a busy pharmacy team supporting the safe and effective dispensing of medications.

Schedule:

• 2nd shift, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
• Rotating weekends

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal requirements.
• Monitor patient medication adherence and identify potential over-usage.
• Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy documentation.
• Educate patients on medication use, possible side effects, and answer inquiries.
• Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage and potential drug interactions.
• Deliver additional patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management.
• Train patients on proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications as needed and prepare sterile solutions following relevant procedures.
• Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks, ensuring workflow efficiency.
• Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory.
• Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, and interns to resolve drug-related issues.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid California Pharmacist license required.
• Open to retail pharmacists; training will be provided for those new to the role.
