A short-term pharmacist opportunity is available for a 4-week contract in the San Diego, CA area, with an immediate start. This role involves working the 2nd shift from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM including rotating weekends. It’s an excellent chance for retail pharmacists seeking to expand their clinical experience, as training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications while monitoring patient medication compliance and over-usage.
• Ensure all medication supplies and prescriptions are managed within legal requirements and are appropriate for patient use.
• Maintain confidential and precise patient records, supporting proper pharmacy file management.
• Provide patient counseling on medication usage, potential side effects, drug interactions, and storage practices.
• Deliver health services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure, and cholesterol monitoring.
• Educate patients on effective use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions in adherence to safety protocols.
• Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks, fostering an efficient and compliant work environment.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to identify and resolve drug-related challenges.

Qualifications:

• California pharmacist license in-hand is mandatory.
• Retail pharmacists are welcome, with training available for those new to clinical settings.

This contract position is ideal for pharmacists local to San Diego ready to step in quickly. Flexibility in working the second shift and weekends is required.
