A San Diego-based pharmacy is seeking a licensed Pharmacist for a short 4-week contract opportunity. This role offers the chance to provide exceptional pharmaceutical care during the 2nd shift, from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM, with rotating weekends. The position is ideal for retail pharmacists looking to expand their experience in a clinical setting, as training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications in compliance with legal regulations.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and detect patterns of over-usage.
- Ensure the suitability of prescribed medications for patients.
- Maintain confidential patient records and manage pharmacy files properly.
- Advise patients on medication usage, side effects, storage, and answer related questions.
- Provide patient services including smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the correct use of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
- Compound medications for internal and external use; prepare sterile solutions following established procedures.
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks.
- Manage pharmaceutical inventory effectively.
- Identify drug-related patient issues and collaborate with physicians and healthcare providers to resolve them.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid California Pharmacist License (required).
- Experience in retail pharmacy accepted; training available for clinical duties.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare team members.
- Ability to supervise and mentor pharmacy support staff.
