This pharmacy role offers a direct hire opportunity for a qualified pharmacist to oversee medication dispensing and clinical pharmacy services in a hospital setting. The position plays a key role in ensuring the safe, effective preparation and administration of medications, providing expert drug information, managing pharmacy operations, and supporting healthcare teams in delivering quality patient care. Leadership responsibilities may be required in the Pharmacy Director’s absence, reflecting the importance of this position within the pharmacy department.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare, fill, label, and dispense medications, including IV solutions and parenteral drugs, ensuring compliance with legal and quality standards.
  • Monitor patient drug therapies for effectiveness and safety, applying age-specific clinical considerations.
  • Provide drug information and education to physicians, nurses, patients, and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain inventory and pharmacy records, supervise pharmacy technicians and technical staff.
  • Participate in formulary management, Automated Dispensing Machine updates, and emergency Rapid Response or Code Blue teams.
  • Complete competency evaluations and engage in continuing education to maintain professional skills.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies while fostering strong teamwork across departments.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy required; PharmD preferred.
  • Active pharmacist license for the State of New Mexico.
  • 1-2 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations are encouraged to apply.
  • Proficient knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, and clinical decision-making.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Leadership capabilities and familiarity with pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technologies.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform repetitive hand tasks, lift up to 40 pounds, and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to operate pharmacy equipment safely and effectively.
