Staff Pharmacist - Alaska

A full-time Staff Pharmacist opportunity is available in Southeast Alaska with a nonprofit healthcare organization serving local communities. This role offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive pharmacy services across clinical and ambulatory settings, with a strong focus on safe and effective medication therapy, patient education, and collaboration with healthcare providers. The position also provides exposure to Long-Term Care pharmacy services and interdisciplinary patient care.

Position Details:

• Direct Hire
• Day shift with rotating weekends
• Full-time
• Approximately 10% travel required

Responsibilities:

• Review prescriptions, dispense medications, and maintain required documentation 
• Counsel patients and provide medication education
• Collaborate with prescribers and healthcare staff
• Perform medication therapy management, chart reviews, and drug utilization evaluations
• Provide drug information, staff education, and support pharmacy technicians and students
• Support Long-Term Care services, including medication regimen reviews, regulatory compliance, psychotropic stewardship, controlled-substance oversight, and quality improvement when assigned

Requirements:

• PharmD and pharmacist licensure required
• Candidates licensed before 2003 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy and 3 years of hospital and/or ambulatory pharmacy experience will be considered
• Unrestricted pharmacist license; Alaska pharmacist licensure required
• BLS certification (may be obtained within 1 year of hire)
• ASHP-recognized pharmacy residency preferred
• Clinical Competency Assessment within 3 months of hire and every 3 years
• High Risk Competency within 3 months of hire and annually
• Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy laws/regulations
• Ability to review medical records, labs, and medication orders
• Strong communication, computer, and dosage calculation skills
