A healthcare provider specializing in home infusion IV and infusion services seeks a PRN Staff Pharmacist to deliver clinical pharmacy support on a recurring basis. This role is based in Cambridge, MA, and offers the opportunity to work closely with patients managing acute and chronic medical conditions through infusion therapies.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and process physician orders; verify insurance benefits
- Perform sterile compounding and support cleanroom operations following USP 797 standards
- Ensure safe dispensing of medications and infusion-related supplies
- Maintain accurate patient and pharmacy records in compliance with federal and state regulations
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff
- Manage assigned patient caseloads; provide coverage for other pharmacists as needed
Schedule:
- Initial training of 4-8 days on the electronic medical records (EMR) system
- Subsequently, 2 days per month with flexible scheduling
- Additional PRN coverage as needed, including urgent coverage for July 6-10 and July 13-17, with additional dates through December
- On-site shifts from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Qualifications:
- Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License in good standing
- Minimum one year pharmacy experience; two or more years of clinical pharmacy experience preferred
- Experience in infusion therapy and sterile compounding highly desirable
- Thorough knowledge of USP 797 sterile compounding standards
- Excellent communication, multitasking, time management, and critical-thinking abilities
This contract position offers flexibility with scheduling and a chance to contribute to specialized patient care in a home infusion setting.
