This opportunity is for a Staff Pharmacist specializing in Home Infusion services, providing clinical pharmacy support on a PRN basis in Cambridge, MA. The role focuses on IV and infusion therapies for patients with acute and chronic medical needs, ensuring safe medication dispensing and maintaining strict compliance with federal and state regulations. This position is contract-based, offering flexible scheduling with a commitment of 2 days per month and additional coverage as needed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating and processing physician orders while verifying insurance benefits
  • Performing sterile compounding and supporting cleanroom operations
  • Dispensing medications and infusion-related supplies safely and accurately
  • Maintaining detailed patient and pharmacy records in compliance with applicable regulations
  • Collaborating and communicating effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and healthcare team members
  • Supervising pharmacy technicians and support staff
  • Managing assigned patient caseloads and providing backup coverage for other pharmacists

Schedule details:

  • Initial training of 4-8 days to become proficient with the EMR system
  • Scheduled shifts are typically 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., onsite
  • Immediate coverage needed for July dates (July 6-10 and July 13-17), with additional dates in August, September, and December

Qualifications:

  • Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License in good standing
  • At least 1 year of pharmacy experience; 2+ years of clinical pharmacy experience preferred
  • Experience in infusion therapy and sterile compounding highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of USP 797 sterile compounding standards is required
  • Strong communication, multitasking, time management, and critical thinking abilities
