Pharmacist in Somerville, MA

A Home Infusion provider specializing in IV and infusion services is seeking a PRN Staff Pharmacist to provide clinical pharmacy support on a recurring basis at their Cambridge, MA location. This role focuses on delivering safe, accurate medication dispensing and supporting cleanroom sterile compounding operations for patients with acute and chronic medical needs.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate and process physician orders and verify insurance benefits
• Perform sterile compounding in compliance with USP 797 standards and support cleanroom operations
• Ensure safe dispensing of medications and infusion-related supplies
• Maintain accurate patient and pharmacy records in accordance with federal and state regulations
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and healthcare team members
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy support staff
• Manage assigned patient caseloads and provide coverage for other pharmacists as needed

Schedule/Shift:

• Initial training on EMR system for 4-8 days
• Regularly scheduled 2 days per month with flexible scheduling
• Additional PRN coverage as needed, including urgent coverage for July 6-10 and July 13-17, plus dates in August, September, and December
• Shifts from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on-site in Cambridge

Qualifications:

• Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License in good standing
• Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience; 2+ years of clinical pharmacy experience preferred
• Experience with infusion therapy and/or sterile compounding highly desired
• Strong understanding of USP 797 sterile compounding standards
• Excellent communication, multitasking, time management, and critical-thinking skills
