A healthcare facility in Spokane, WA is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist for a 9-week contract opportunity starting August 3rd. This role involves comprehensive pharmacy responsibilities in a long-term care setting, with shifts scheduled Monday through Friday during day/evening hours and possible weekend rotations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and safely.
  • Monitor patient medication compliance and identify over-usage patterns.
  • Ensure medication supplies comply with legal regulations.
  • Confirm prescribed medicines are suitable for patients.
  • Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision.
  • Advise patients on medication use, potential side effects, and answer questions.
  • Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including proper storage and drug interactions.
  • Offer patient services such as smoking cessation programs, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on the correct use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications for external/intern use and prepare sterile solutions using proper protocols.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
  • Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory.
  • Identify and communicate patient drug-related problems with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Washington State pharmacist license (in-hand) is required.
  • Willingness to train retail pharmacists transitioning into this role.
  • Experience with PV1 and PV2 duties preferred.
