Pharmacist | Springfield, Missouri

A pharmacist role is available on the evening shift in an acute care hospital pharmacy, working primarily in product verification. This position offers a 13-week contract with strong possibility of extension and involves coordinating workflow within the central pharmacy alongside overseeing pharmacy technicians' activities to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities include verifying and checking medications, kits, crash carts, prepack items, IVs, premade IVs, creams, insulin pens, and other pharmaceutical products using the EPIC electronic medical record system. This role focuses on maintaining accuracy and safety in medication dispensing, including ensuring code carts are correctly restocked. Training, lasting 2-3 weeks depending on individual capability, will be provided to support proficiency in product verification.

The central pharmacy team consists of 5 pharmacists and 10 technicians during the day, with 2 pharmacists and 5-6 technicians on the evening shift. This role serves as the primary pharmacist overseeing central pharmacy operations on the evening shift, with other pharmacists handling more order review responsibilities within the electronic health record. While direct supervision of other pharmacists is not required, the position involves managing and redirecting technician workflow as necessary.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid Missouri Pharmacist License required
• Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience; new graduates are encouraged to apply
• Proficiency with EPIC or willingness to learn
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills for effective team coordination

Location: Springfield, MO (acute care hospital pharmacy setting)

Schedule:

• Evenings, 2:30 PM – 12:30 AM
• 7 days on, 7 days off (Thursday through Wednesday; shift schedule may vary)
• Weekly guaranteed 36 hours
