Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary and consultative pharmacy services in infectious diseases, optimizing antimicrobial therapy for diverse patient populations.
  • Review medication orders to ensure safe, effective, and cost-conscious drug use, including pharmacokinetic dosing adjustments.
  • Collaborate closely with healthcare teams during patient care rounds to recommend treatment plans for complex infections such as sepsis, bacteremia, and antibiotic-resistant organisms.
  • Lead or support Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs, including guideline development and order set management.
  • Participate in clinical research and scholarly activities to advance infectious disease pharmacotherapy.
  • Educate medical, pharmacy students, residents, and healthcare providers on antimicrobial best practices.
  • Oversee technical staff and pharmacy interns in specialty areas while assisting with orientation and training.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) with 1-2 years clinical pharmacy experience in healthcare; ID specialty training (PGY2 in Infectious Diseases) and/or board certification (BCIDP) highly preferred.
  • Registered Pharmacist licensure and Controlled Substance registration in Michigan (to be obtained within three months of employment).
  • Strong knowledge of microbiology, pharmacokinetics, and antimicrobial stewardship principles.
