We are seeking an experienced Inpatient Pharmacist for a long-term hospital opportunity in California. This is an excellent chance to join a close-knit pharmacy team in a critical access hospital setting where you'll have a direct impact on patient care and pharmacy operations.

This assignment is expected to start ASAP and continue for 6+ months, offering consistent hours and the opportunity to work in a collaborative healthcare environment.

Position Details

Long-term contract assignment (6+ months)
ASAP start
Hospital inpatient setting
Variable schedule averaging 36–40 hours per week
Coverage primarily Monday through Saturday
Potential Sunday coverage as needed
Typical hours currently 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (subject to change based on operational needs)
Rotating on-call responsibilities required

Responsibilities

Verify and process medication orders
Provide patient counseling and medication consultations
Serve as a medication information resource for healthcare staff and patients
Perform sterile compounding and IV preparation
Reconstitute medications as needed
Unit dose medications for inpatient use
Receive and manage medication inventory from wholesalers
Monitor medication inventory and remove products prior to expiration
Conduct pharmacy audits and maintain accurate records
Assist with billing and pharmacy-related administrative functions
Supervise and support pharmacy technician staff
Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and facility regulations
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care

Required Qualifications

Active California Pharmacist License
Minimum of 3 years of recent inpatient hospital pharmacy experience
Strong sterile compounding and IV admixture experience
Experience verifying medication orders in a hospital setting
Strong mathematical and pharmaceutical calculations skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team
Experience performing pharmacy audits and maintaining regulatory compliance
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to supervise pharmacy technicians effectively

Preferred Experience

Experience with Cerner (training available)
Experience working in a critical access hospital or small hospital environment
Strong inventory management and purchasing experience

Compensation for this position ranges from $61.00 to $76.00. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals.
