An opportunity is available for a pharmacist to contribute to quality healthcare delivery within a 200-bed hospital setting. This role involves working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and effective use of medications, focusing on patient safety and education.
Location: Tucson, AZ
Type: Contract (13-week duration, potential for temp-to-hire)
Shift: Second shift (days/afternoons)
Start Date: ASAP
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with physicians on drug selection and dosing decisions.
- Educate nursing staff, patients, and physicians on medication use and safety.
- Lead medication safety initiatives to reduce risks and ensure compliance.
- Review and maintain patient medication profiles to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
- Identify, report, and help prevent adverse drug reactions.
- Prepare and mix IV admixtures and nutritional supplements accurately.
- Ensure strict narcotic accountability and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current pharmacist licensure in good standing.
- Experience working within a hospital or healthcare facility preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacology, medication safety standards, and IV admixture procedures.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to interact effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work efficiently during the second shift schedule.
