Per Diem Pharmacist in Valencia, CA

A pharmacy professional is needed for a per diem position supporting medication management at skilled nursing, personal care, and hospice facilities. This role requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a healthcare environment. The assignment begins as a one-month ongoing contract, with potential extensions.

Location: Valencia, CA
Schedule:

• 24 hours per week
• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (pharmacy hours)

Key Responsibilities:

• Review and verify medication orders entered by data entry technicians, ensuring accuracy for various care settings
• Inspect packaged medications, including blister packs, as well as sterile and non-sterile preparations
• Respond to phone inquiries from nursing facilities, hospice nurses, and physicians, providing clinical guidance
• Count controlled substances and maintain meticulous records in the perpetual inventory
• Monitor and verify emergency medication boxes

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
• Valid pharmacist license registered in Pennsylvania and in good standing
• Minimum of 1 year of pharmacist experience; experience in long-term care (LTC) pharmacy preferred
• Physical capability including sitting and standing for extended periods, fine motor skills, visual acuity, and able to lift up to 30 pounds

Technology and Systems:

• Familiarity with QS1, Docutrack, and PCC pharmacy operating systems
