A well-established managed care organization is seeking a dedicated Clinical Pharmacist Specialist (CPS) to provide expert-level clinical pharmacy services in a remote setting. This position requires a proactive professional to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including medical directors, nurse case managers, and network providers, to deliver high-quality, evidence-based, and cost-effective care.
Location: Remote (Preference for candidates licensed in OR, WA, or CA)
Job Type: Contract
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with rare weekend shifts required only a few times per year
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct patient care through Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs
- Manage population-based disease strategies and specialty pharmaceutical acquisition and coordination
- Conduct drug utilization reviews and contribute to clinical policy development and application
- Participate actively in Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee activities
- Review pharmacy and medical claims to assess and address medication-related issues
- Educate and consult with physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Develop medication action plans and implement interventions collaboratively
- Influence safe, quality, and cost-effective pharmaceutical use through medical policy development
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Pharmacist License in Oregon, Washington, or California
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a managed care environment, including handling prior authorizations, audits, appeals, and ALJ court hearings
- Strong communication skills to provide therapeutic recommendations effectively and tactfully
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving healthcare environment
- Commitment to maintaining professional development and ongoing education in clinical pharmacy
