A clinical pharmacy opportunity is available for a dedicated pharmacist specializing in infectious diseases. This role emphasizes providing expert pharmaceutical care, education, and consultation in infection management to optimize patient outcomes and promote effective antimicrobial use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver primary and consultative clinical pharmacy services focusing on infectious disease therapeutics and antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Review medication orders for appropriateness, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness, including dosing adjustments and monitoring therapeutic outcomes.
  • Participate in patient care rounds, collaborating with healthcare teams to recommend optimal drug selections and treatment plans.
  • Oversee technical staff and pharmacy interns; assist with training and orientation to foster professional development.
  • Precept pharmacy students and residents during clinical rotations.
  • Collect medication histories, maintain medication profiles, and provide ambulatory medication consultations.
  • Develop and present educational programs for patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Engage in clinical research projects and contribute scholastic materials.
  • Support Medication Use Evaluations (MUE), Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR) activities, and participate in pharmacy and therapeutics committees.
  • Adhere rigorously to institutional policies and maintain a professional, safe work environment.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree; residency or fellowship training preferred.
  • One to two years of clinical pharmacy experience, ideally in infectious diseases.
  • Registered Pharmacist with Michigan licensure (including Controlled Substance licensure) within three months of hire.
  • Preferably PGY-2 Infectious Diseases training and/or board certification (BCIDP).
  • Strong foundation in microbiology, pharmacokinetics, and antimicrobial stewardship.
