This role focuses on providing accurate, safe, efficient, and cost-effective drug distribution and pharmaceutical care services. You will ensure high-quality pharmaceutical support is delivered directly or through supportive staff to the patients served.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Accurately interpret physicians' drug orders and dispense appropriate medications.
- Review patient medical and pharmaceutical records for effective drug therapy, drug interactions, adverse reactions, contraindications, allergies, and sensitivities.
- Develop clinical pharmacy practice skills through self-directed learning and departmental development programs.
- Administer immunizations according to qualification.
- Communicate with physicians and nurses regarding patient drug therapy questions.
- Prepare, compound, dispense, and sell prescriptions and pharmacy-related products.
- Provide patient counseling and education.
- Monitor storage, distribution, and usage of pharmaceuticals.
- Document and report medication errors.
- Oversee prescription processing to maintain quality standards.
- Maintain records of controlled substances.
- Assist in directing and monitoring pharmacy personnel.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency.
- Display professional conduct aligned with company values.
- Maintain regular attendance and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy with an active pharmacist license in Iowa.
- Current certifications required by the department, including Basic Cardiac Life Support and Immunization Certification.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with professional demeanor.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Analytical problem-solving skills.
- Up-to-date knowledge of State and Federal pharmacy regulations and statutes.
