Pharmacist Opportunity – West Chester, PA (Contract)

A well-established academic medical center serving a diverse urban population is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist for a contract assignment lasting 3 to 6 months. This role offers the chance to work in a fast-paced, Level 1 trauma center environment affiliated with a prestigious medical school and known for its strong research and teaching missions.

Location: West Chester, PA
Shift: AM, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (5 x 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week)
Duration: 3 to 6 months contract (strict commitment required)

Responsibilities:

• Review and verify medication orders from physicians and physician extenders for accuracy and appropriateness.
• Assess patient allergies, medical history, potential drug interactions, and lab results before dispensing medications.
• Oversee medication preparation by pharmacy students and technicians, ensuring safety and accuracy.
• Maintain inventory control of medications.
• Provide drug information and consult with the healthcare team for optimal patient care and discharge planning.
• Follow medication safety protocols, including error reporting and quality assurance measures.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Active Pennsylvania Pharmacist license in good standing (required).
• Bachelor’s Degree from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy (Doctorate PharmD preferred).
• Minimum 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience or advanced clinical practice rotations (APPE).
• Familiarity with EPIC Dispense Prep system is required; experience with the EPIC camera verification system is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in sterile compounding and IV room procedures.
• Basic Life Support certification preferred.
• Strong adaptability and ability to learn quickly within a high-acuity academic medical environment.
