A licensed pharmacist is needed for a contract position in the Whittier, CA area, with an assignment duration of 8 to 13 weeks or more. This role offers the opportunity to work in a medium-sized hospital environment with 117 licensed beds and an average daily census of 44 patients. The position may require floating to nearby sister hospitals located within 10 to 15 miles of Norwalk, providing variety and broadened experience.
Location: Whittier, CA (with possible travel to nearby sister hospitals)
Schedule: Variable day and afternoon shifts
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify medication orders accurately and efficiently
- Oversee pharmacy technicians to ensure proper medication dispensing
- Collaborate with nurses and physicians to provide consultative support
- Apply pharmacokinetics knowledge to optimize medication therapy
- Utilize Allscripts/Paragon order entry systems for medication management
- Operate Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets for secure medication distribution
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Current pharmacist licensure in the state
- Proficiency with Allscripts/Paragon or similar order entry systems
- Familiarity with Pyxis or other automated dispensing technologies
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with clinical teams
- Experience in hospital pharmacy settings preferred
