A professional pharmacist opportunity is available for an 8 to 13+ week assignment near Whittier, CA, with occasional floating to nearby sister hospitals within a 10 to 15-mile radius. This role involves working in a hospital setting with licensed beds totaling 117 and an average daily census of 44 patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately verify medication orders ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance.
- Provide oversight and guidance to pharmacy technicians in daily operations.
- Collaborate effectively with nurses and physicians to optimize pharmacotherapy and patient outcomes.
- Apply expertise in pharmacokinetics to adjust and monitor medication dosing.
- Utilize the Paragon/Allscripts order entry system to manage medication orders.
- Operate and monitor Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets to maintain efficient pharmacy workflows.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current pharmacist license in good standing.
- Proficiency with Paragon and Allscripts order entry systems.
- Experience with Pyxis automated dispensing systems is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to consult with multidisciplinary teams.
- Flexibility to cover variable day and afternoon shifts.
- Ability to float to sister hospitals as needed.
