A pharmacy professional with experience or interest in long-term care is needed to manage medication services at a healthcare facility in Winterville, NC. This contract opportunity, lasting 13 weeks with potential for contract-to-hire, requires a licensed pharmacist ready to start immediately.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Rotating weekends

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and legally.
  • Monitor and ensure patient medication compliance and detect patterns of over-usage.
  • Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy documentation with precision.
  • Advise patients on medication usage, potential reactions, and answer their questions effectively.
  • Provide consultations on prescription and OTC medications covering storage, dosage, side effects, and interactions.
  • Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol management.
  • Educate patients on the use and care of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
  • Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established safety protocols.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks.
  • Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies appropriately.
  • Identify drug-related problems and maintain communication with healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and interns to ensure optimal patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Active North Carolina pharmacist license in hand.
  • Experience in retail pharmacy is welcome; training will be provided for retail pharmacists transitioning into long-term care.
  • Familiarity with PV1 and PV2 duties.
