This pharmacist role, based in Yatahey, NM, focuses on ensuring safe and effective medication use within a hospital pharmacy setting. The pharmacist will be responsible for dispensing medications, monitoring therapy outcomes, and providing drug-related education to healthcare staff. Leadership duties include managing day-to-day operations and supervising pharmacy technicians, stepping into director responsibilities when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately prepare, fill, label, and dispense medications, including IV solutions and parenteral drugs.
  • Monitor patient drug therapies for safety, effectiveness, and compliance with clinical guidelines.
  • Provide drug information and clinical education to physicians, nurses, and patients.
  • Manage pharmacy inventory, maintain records, and oversee technical personnel.
  • Participate in emergency response teams such as Rapid Response and Code Blue.
  • Contribute to quality assurance, compliance activities, and professional development initiatives.
  • Support formulary management and automated dispensing machine updates.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy required; PharmD preferred.
  • Current, active New Mexico pharmacist license.
  • 1–2 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred; new graduates with strong clinical rotations will be considered.
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge, attention to detail, supervisory ability, and proficiency with pharmacy systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of repetitive hand use, lifting up to 40 pounds, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate pharmacy equipment safely and efficiently.
