An opportunity is available for an experienced Interim Pharmacy Manager to lead pharmacy operations at a small, 100-bed community hospital in Southern California. This contract role begins immediately and spans approximately 13 weeks or more, providing leadership during a critical period of transition.
The hospital maintains an average daily census of 45 patients and is currently DNV accredited, with plans to transition to The Joint Commission (TJC) accreditation soon. The pharmacy team consists of 19 full-time equivalents (FTEs), supporting both inpatient and a 340B outpatient pharmacy program. Technology systems in use include Cerner and Pyxis.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serving as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for the hospital
- Overseeing pharmacy personnel and daily workflow to ensure efficient operations
- Ensuring regulatory compliance and quality standards are met
- Managing the pharmacy budget and resource allocation
- Collaborating with hospital leadership during accreditation transition efforts
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, primarily day shifts, with potential for a 4-day, 10-hour shift arrangement subject to discussion.
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Active California Pharmacist license
- Previous pharmacy management experience, ideally within a hospital setting
- Willingness and capability to serve as PIC
- Strong leadership and people management skills, including patience and resilience to work through challenging team dynamics
