A Southern California hospital is seeking an experienced Interim Pharmacy Manager to oversee pharmacy operations in a 100-bed community hospital setting. This role requires a strong leader comfortable managing a busy team and ensuring compliance with healthcare standards in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for the hospital pharmacy
  • Manage daily pharmacy workflow, personnel, and schedules for a team of 19 FTEs
  • Oversee compliance with regulations and accreditation standards, including transition from DNV to The Joint Commission (TJC)
  • Maintain budgetary oversight and optimize resource allocation
  • Utilize Cerner and Pyxis systems for pharmacy operations
  • Support 340B outpatient pharmacy activities and ensure program integrity
  • Engage effectively with clinical, administrative, and support staff, fostering positive workplace culture despite challenging dynamics

Qualifications:

  • Valid California Pharmacist license is required
  • Proven management experience in a hospital pharmacy setting
  • Ability and willingness to serve as PIC
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Resilience and adaptability to navigate complex team environments

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday daytime shifts
  • Potential to explore alternative schedules such as four 10-hour days

This contract position starts ASAP and is expected to last at least 13 weeks. Candidates must be prepared to apply leadership skills and pharmacy expertise in a fast-paced small hospital environment to ensure safe, efficient pharmacy services.
