A small behavioral hospital in Lynchburg, VA, is seeking a Pharmacist to serve as the working Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC). This opportunity involves managing all aspects of the pharmacy operations at a newly established facility—a joint venture between two major healthcare providers. The role is critical to ensuring the safe and efficient distribution of medications and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

This assignment begins immediately and runs for 13 weeks, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position. The schedule consists of Monday through Friday day shifts, offering a consistent workweek.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily pharmacy operations and staff performance
• Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy laws, regulations, and policies
• Manage medication inventories and procurement
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy for patients
• Supervise medication dispensing and administration within the behavioral hospital setting
• Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to pharmacy activities

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Licensed Pharmacist with credentials to practice in Virginia
• Previous experience as a Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist-in-Charge, preferably in a behavioral health or hospital setting
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Knowledge of pharmacy operations, inventory management, and regulatory compliance
• Ability to work independently and make critical decisions related to patient care and pharmacy management
