An opportunity is available for an Interim Director of Pharmacy/Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead pharmacy operations in a hospital setting specializing in behavioral health. This contract position is based in West Virginia, with coverage starting on August 31, 2026, until a permanent Director of Pharmacy is hired.

Location: Kenova, WV
Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • On-call coverage after each shift and on weekends

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assume full staffing and administrative duties as the PIC and Interim Director of Pharmacy
  • Oversee pharmacy operations in a behavioral health hospital with 165 licensed beds and an average daily census of 130
  • Manage a team including 1 full-time pharmacist, 4 per diem pharmacists, and 2.6 full-time equivalent pharmacy technicians
  • Utilize and become proficient with hospital order entry system HCS and site automation through Omnicell (training provided)
  • Collaborate closely with pharmacy technicians responsible for order filling, delivery, and inventory management
  • Implement policies that support safe and effective medication use and compliance with hospital standards
  • Participate in onsite training and knowledge transfer from the current Director of Pharmacy, who is retiring

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Must hold a valid West Virginia pharmacist license
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy management and familiarity with Omnicell automation strongly preferred
  • Prior experience in behavioral health pharmacy settings is a plus
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to manage pharmacy staffing and workflow effectively
