An opportunity is available for an interim Pharmacist-in-Charge/Director of Pharmacy at a small, critical access hospital with 25 beds in rural Northern California. This contract role offers a focused leadership position in a community-oriented healthcare setting.
Location: Lakeport, CA
Duration: Approximately 13 weeks with potential for extension
Schedule:
- Four 10-hour day shifts per week
Role Overview:
This position combines clinical pharmacy responsibilities with administrative oversight, with approximately 90% of time dedicated to staffing and 10% on administrative duties. Key responsibilities include order verification, supervision of pharmacy technicians, consultation with physicians and nursing staff, and involvement in pharmacokinetics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify medication orders accurately and efficiently
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians to ensure optimal workflow
- Collaborate closely with physicians and nurses to optimize patient care
- Apply pharmacokinetic principles in clinical decision-making
- Manage daily pharmacy operations and maintain regulatory compliance
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid California Pharmacist license
- Previous hospital pharmacy experience, preferably in critical access or small hospital settings
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
