A critical access hospital located in rural Northern California seeks an interim Pharmacy-in-Charge (PIC) / Director of Pharmacy (DOP) to oversee pharmacy operations for approximately 13 weeks. This role is essential for maintaining excellent pharmaceutical services within a 25-bed hospital and ensuring high-quality patient care.

Schedule:

  • Four 10-hour day shifts per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day pharmacy operations, with approximately 90% of time dedicated to staffing and distribution duties
  • Perform order verification and supervise technicians to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and nurses to provide pharmaceutical consultations and support clinical decision-making
  • Apply pharmacokinetics knowledge to optimize medication therapies
  • Handle administrative tasks, including compliance and quality assurance activities (approx. 10% of duties)

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid California Pharmacist license
  • Previous hospital pharmacy experience, preferably in a leadership or supervisory capacity
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy operations in a critical access hospital setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clinical teams
