A critical opening is available for an experienced Pharmacist to serve as the working Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) at a newly established behavioral hospital. This facility is a joint venture between well-regarded healthcare organizations and offers a unique environment focused on behavioral health care. The position is located in Lynchburg, VA, and presents an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the pharmacy operations of a cutting-edge hospital.

This contract role is structured for 13 weeks with potential to transition into a permanent position, providing stability and growth possibilities. The schedule consists of Monday through Friday day shifts, supporting work-life balance and predictable hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies
  • Manage medication distribution and inventory for behavioral health patients
  • Collaborate with medical staff to optimize pharmacotherapy plans
  • Serve as the primary pharmacist in charge, responsible for maintaining quality assurance
  • Participate in staff training and development activities for pharmacy technicians and assistants

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Licensed Pharmacist with current registration and ability to practice in the state
  • Proven experience as a Pharmacy Manager or Pharmacist in Charge, preferably in hospital or behavioral health settings
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and leadership capabilities
