Pharmacy Manager in Orange City, IA

A critical access hospital operating a 340B retail pharmacy is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Manager to oversee daily operations and staff. This role offers the opportunity to lead a small but dedicated pharmacy team handling a prescription volume of approximately 140 per day. The pharmacy operates on a Pioneer computer system, and the manager will be responsible for managing workflow and maintaining high standards of service without Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) duties.

Location: Orange City, IA
Type: Contract (13 weeks +)
Start Date: September 14
Schedule:

• Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• On-call availability possible but rare

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage pharmacy operations and supervise one pharmacist and two technicians
• Ensure compliance with 340B program requirements and hospital policies
• Oversee prescription filling accuracy and workflow efficiency for 140 prescriptions daily
• Utilize Pioneer pharmacy system for all dispensing and recordkeeping activities
• Coordinate with hospital staff and maintain clear communication

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Licensed Iowa pharmacist or ability to obtain a temporary Iowa license promptly
• Previous retail pharmacy experience required; familiarity with 340B programs preferred
• Ability to work full-time hours during posted schedule
• Strong leadership and organizational skills essential
• Comfortable working with limited pharmacist staffing and no PRN backup
