Supervising Pharmacy Manager | Sheldon, Iowa

A critical access hospital is seeking an experienced Retail Pharmacy Manager to oversee operations at their 340B outpatient retail pharmacy in Orange City, IA. This contract opportunity begins on 09/14/2026 and extends for approximately 13 weeks until a permanent pharmacy manager is hired. This role is essential to maintaining high-quality pharmacy services in a community-focused healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily pharmacy operations supporting an average prescription volume of 140 per day
• Lead and support a team consisting of one pharmacist and two pharmacy technicians
• Ensure compliance with 340B program regulations and hospital policies
• Maintain accurate and efficient use of the Pioneer pharmacy computer system
• Provide leadership while the pharmacy does not have a pharmacist-in-charge (PIC)
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care
• Perform occasional on-call duties, although infrequent

Qualifications:

• Valid Iowa pharmacist license or ability to obtain an Iowa temporary license
• Proven retail pharmacy management experience, ideally within a 340B pharmacy setting
• Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage a small pharmacy staff effectively
• Availability to work full-time during pharmacy hours: Monday-Thursday 8:00 AM – 6:30 PM; Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Ability to thrive in a critical access hospital environment with limited PRN pharmacist support
