This role offers an excellent opportunity for Certified Pharmacy Technicians with specialized experience in specialty pharmacy settings. You will be working with rare and orphan drugs that support patients with uncommon diseases, requiring a detailed understanding of benefit coverage, prior authorization, and patient access programs. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will facilitate high-touch interactions between patients, providers, and specialty pharmacy services to help navigate complex medication approval and financing pathways.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing prior authorizations and facilitating benefit and coverage verification for specialty medications
- Assisting patients and healthcare providers with access to rare/orphan drugs, including support with payment assistance, grants, and rebate programs
- Collaborating closely with clinical teams and providers to ensure seamless drug dispensing and patient care
- Utilizing McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system to process specialty pharmacy orders and documentation accurately
- Providing excellent patient-centered service and maintaining compliance with pharmacy standards and regulations
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician with an active Arizona license in good standing
- Demonstrated experience working exclusively in a designated specialty pharmacy or specialty PBM environment (pure retail experience without specialty pharmacy exposure is not acceptable)
- Proven knowledge of specialty drug benefit/coverage, prior authorization processes, and patient support programs
- Strong communication and clinical knowledge to manage complex patient-provider interactions
- Experience supporting disease states treated with rare and orphan drugs is preferred
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, daytime hours
This is a 13-week contract with a possibility for contract-to-hire arrangement. The ideal candidate will be available to start as soon as possible and must provide a resume highlighting specialty pharmacy experience, a specialty pharmacy reference, and a copy of their Arizona license.
