A specialty pharmacy is seeking three experienced Certified Pharmacy Technicians with a strong background in Benefit/Coverage/Access and Prior Authorization duties. This position offers the opportunity to work with rare and orphan drugs that serve patients with unique, complex diseases.

This contract role requires professionals who have specialized pharmacy experience—not just dispensing in retail settings. Candidates must have worked in designated specialty pharmacies or specialty PBMs where they navigated the complexities of drug approvals, payment assistance, grants, rebates, and patient-provider communication. The ability to provide high-touch clinical support is essential, as you will be a critical link between providers and patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage prior authorizations and benefit/coverage verification for expensive, rare/orphan drug therapies
  • Assist patients and providers with navigating coverage challenges and accessing payment assistance programs
  • Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system for specialty pharmacy operations
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and patients to ensure timely and accurate drug dispensing
  • Maintain detailed records in compliance with pharmacy and regulatory standards

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician with national certification and an active AZ license in good standing
  • Proven specialty pharmacy experience or specialty PBM background (retail-only experience is not sufficient)
  • Familiarity with rare disease states and orphan drug therapy management
  • Strong clinical knowledge and excellent communication skills
  • Experience handling complex authorization and reimbursement processes

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, daytime hours

Contract Details:

  • 13-week contract with potential for direct hire
