A specialty pharmacy is seeking two experienced pharmacists to support patients with rare and orphan diseases. This role requires in-depth expertise in specialty pharmacy practice, working closely with patients and providers to navigate the complexities of drug approval and financing for high-cost therapies. Candidates must bring proven knowledge of specialty pharmacy operations, particularly in managing rare disease medications.
Location: Chandler, AZ
Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime hours
Duration: 13-week contract with potential to convert to direct hire
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense specialty medications, focusing on rare and orphan drugs
- Collaborate extensively with healthcare providers and patients to facilitate drug approvals and access
- Assist patients with payment options, including grants, rebates, and insurance programs
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation using McKesson Enterprise (ERx) specialty pharmacy system
- Provide expert clinical guidance and education related to complex therapy regimens
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in Arizona
- Demonstrated specialty pharmacy experience in a designated specialty retail or specialty mail order setting; pure retail pharmacists without specialty pharmacy experience will not be considered
- Expertise in rare/orphan disease states and navigating associated clinical and insurance challenges
- Strong communication skills for high-touch interactions with both providers and patients
- Ability to work independently and manage detailed clinical documentation
