This opportunity is for experienced specialty pharmacists with a background in designated specialty pharmacy settings, working with rare and orphan drugs. The position is based in Chandler, AZ, offering a contract assignment with potential for direct hire. The role involves navigating complex approval processes for high-cost medications and providing high-touch communication between patients and providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispense specialty medications for patients with rare diseases, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Facilitate patient and provider communication to support medication approval, payment assistance, and access to grants or rebates
  • Utilize McKesson Enterprise (ERx) system to manage specialty pharmacy workflows
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient therapy and outcomes

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Active pharmacy license in Arizona, clear and in good standing
  • Proven experience working specifically in a designated specialty pharmacy (retail specialty or specialty mail order)
  • Strong clinical knowledge related to rare/orphan drugs and associated disease states
  • Excellent communication skills for high-touch patient and provider interactions
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex insurance, reimbursement, and assistance programs

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, daytime hours

This role is a contract engagement expected to last approximately 13 weeks, with the possibility of transitioning to direct hire.
